Vicom - 16 Oct 2026

Vicom Ltd (SGX: WJP) — Technical Analysis

Daily chart · 16 October 2026

S$1.76 +0.57%

Short-term bearish

Market regime: Intermediate-term trading range transitioning into a short-term downtrend. The stock is testing a significant demand zone at S$1.74–1.76 following a deterioration in September's price structure.

Overall assessment: Sellers retain the near-term advantage, although price has reached an area where previous declines attracted buying. The latest candle indicates some buying response, but there is insufficient evidence to confirm a durable reversal.

Sep–Oct 2026

Lower highs, decline below S$1.80

Bearish change in short-term character

The February advance was particularly significant because price moved upward rapidly with a conspicuous expansion in volume. This established a bullish structural foundation.

However, the subsequent advance became less decisive. The April peak near S$1.87 was followed by a correction, while the August–September recovery failed to establish a sustained advance above the previous high region.

The most important recent development is the loss of S$1.80, a level that repeatedly functioned as support and resistance. This shifted the immediate balance of control toward sellers.

2. Bar-by-bar analysis: September–October

Phase A — September: upward progress stalls

Price repeatedly tested S$1.84–1.86 but struggled to move beyond it.

  • Several candles displayed narrow bodies and substantial overlap.

  • Successive buying attempts produced little additional upside.

  • The S$1.88 August high was not successfully exceeded.

Interpretation: Demand was becoming less effective. The inability to extend the rally suggested that available buying was being met by supply.

This is consistent with shortening of upward thrust, an early indication of momentum deterioration.

Phase B — Late September: sellers gain control

The decline from approximately S$1.84 developed into a sequence of progressively lower highs and lows.

The candles increasingly closed toward the lower portion of the preceding trading area, while buying attempts failed to recover previous highs.

Most importantly, price began trading below S$1.80.

Interpretation: A bearish change of character evolved into short-term bearish continuation. Former support around S$1.80 now becomes a potential resistance area on rebounds.

Phase C — Early October: downside continuation

Price continued weakening through S$1.79–1.78 and approached the June support region.

The weakness was meaningful because buyers were unable to defend successive minor lows. However, the volume bars were not visibly climactic.

This matters: the decline does not yet display convincing evidence of a major selling climax or exceptionally strong buying absorption.

Phase D — Latest session, 16 October

Open

1.75

High

1.76

Low

1.74

Close

1.76

The latest candle has a S$0.02 trading range and closes at its session high.

Observation: Buyers regained control within the session after price traded at S$1.74.

Interpretation: This is an encouraging initial response at support, but the small range and limited visible volume prevent it from qualifying as a decisive reversal.

A meaningful improvement would require subsequent candles to maintain higher lows, close above preceding highs, and make measurable upward progress.

3. Volume-price relationship

Three volume characteristics stand out.

1. February bullish expansion: The breakout into the S$1.70–1.80 region occurred alongside exceptionally high visible volume. This supports the interpretation of substantial market participation during the advance.

2. August–September rallies: Price reached higher levels without a similarly dramatic and sustained expansion in volume. This suggests less forceful participation than during February, although low volume alone does not prove distribution.

3. Recent sell-off: The decline toward S$1.74 appears to have developed on mostly moderate volume, rather than exceptional selling-volume spikes.

The third observation has two competing interpretations:

  • Potentially constructive: Selling pressure may be diminishing as price reaches established support.

  • Potentially bearish: Buyers may simply be withdrawing bids, allowing price to drift lower without strong selling volume.

The next several candles should help distinguish these possibilities. A low-volume retest followed by a strong upward reversal would favor the first interpretation. Continued weak closes below support would favor the second.

There is currently no sufficiently clear evidence to label the latest action as confirmed institutional accumulation.

4. Wyckoff interpretation

The broad S$1.75–1.88 structure resembles an extended trading range with repeated tests of its boundaries.

The recent decline has returned price to the lower boundary.

Possible spring versus genuine breakdown

Bullish spring

Price briefly penetrates S$1.75, then recovers above S$1.76–1.78 with bullish follow-through and a successful retest.

Bearish breakdown

Price closes convincingly below S$1.74, then fails to reclaim S$1.75–1.76 on a rebound.

The latest S$1.74 low is a possible preliminary shakeout of the S$1.75 support area, but it is not yet a confirmed Wyckoff spring. The recovery is too limited, and decisive follow-through is missing.

5. Forward scenarios and trading strategy

Bullish reversal scenario

Conditional

Trigger: Price holds S$1.74–1.76 and closes above S$1.78, followed by a successful test or sustained recovery through S$1.80.

Objectives: S$1.80 initially, then S$1.84 and S$1.86.

Invalidation: A sustained close below S$1.74, particularly with expanding volume.

An illustrative entry at S$1.78 with a stop at S$1.73 risks S$0.05 per share. The move to S$1.84 offers S$0.06, or 1.2:1; S$1.88 offers 2:1. The latter requires overcoming several resistance levels, so the reward is not readily available.

Bearish continuation scenario

Currently favored

Trigger: A decisive close below S$1.74, followed by weak rebound candles unable to reclaim S$1.75–1.76.

Objectives: S$1.70, followed by S$1.67 and potentially S$1.64.

Invalidation: Recovery and sustained trading above S$1.78–1.80.

A breakdown is more convincing when the selling spreads widen, volume increases, and price cannot recover the broken support. Avoid treating an isolated intraday penetration as proof.

Neutral consolidation scenario

Price oscillates between approximately S$1.74 and S$1.80, with overlapping candles and subdued volume.

This would indicate a temporary balance between supply and demand. The appropriate response is to wait for directional confirmation rather than anticipate the breakout.

7. Conclusion

Vicom is at a technically important decision point.

The decline from S$1.86 to S$1.74 has weakened the short-term market structure, and the inability to defend S$1.80 gives sellers a measurable advantage.

Nevertheless, the current price is approaching a support zone that previously attracted demand in March, May and June. The latest close at S$1.76 shows a tentative response from buyers.

My forward bias remains bearish to neutral until S$1.78–1.80 is reclaimed.

For existing shareholders, S$1.74 is the immediate level to monitor. A sustained failure there would raise the risk of a move toward S$1.70. For prospective buyers, a successful retest of support with improving closes offers better confirmation than buying solely because the price has fallen.

The central question for the next few sessions is whether sellers can generate meaningful progress below S$1.74 or whether repeated selling attempts fail and buyers reclaim S$1.78.
