Riverstone Holdings Limited (SGX: AP4) — Daily Price/Volume Analysis
Last close: S$0.750 | 12 Oct 2026
Current regime: Bearish trend / testing major support
The dominant structure is bearish. Since the May peak at 0.985, Riverstone has produced a sequence of progressively lower rally highs and lower support levels. The September recovery toward 0.820 failed to alter that structure, and price has now returned below the important 0.765 August low. The framework places particular emphasis on swing structure, follow-through and the interaction of price and volume around support/resistance.
1. Structural story
The most important sequence is:
0.985 → 0.885/0.880 → 0.875 → 0.820 → current 0.750
That is a clear progression of lower highs.
On the downside, the market initially found support around 0.820–0.810, then broke toward 0.765, recovered only to 0.820, and is now making another lower low around 0.745–0.750.
This means the September bounce should presently be interpreted as a bear-market rally rather than the start of an uptrend. For that interpretation to change, buyers need to do substantially more than produce one or two green candles.
The Wyckoff-style reading is important here: a penetration of support is not enough by itself; what matters is whether there is follow-through or a rapid recovery back above the broken level.
2. How the chart reached this point
May: major expansion followed by rejection
The early-May surge from approximately 0.725–0.750 to above 0.90 was a major displacement move accompanied by exceptional volume. It eventually reached 0.985.
That was unquestionably strong demand initially.
But what happened afterward is more important. Instead of consolidating near the highs and launching another advance, the stock rapidly lost ground and fell back toward the mid-0.80s.
So the large May buying effort ultimately generated poor lasting upward reward.
That does not automatically prove distribution, but it is a significant warning under effort-versus-result analysis: heavy activity accompanied by an inability to preserve the advance implies that substantial supply was encountered. Price/volume analysis should compare the force of buying or selling with the actual progress achieved, rather than treating high volume mechanically as bullish or bearish.
June–August: supply repeatedly caps rallies
From June into early August, price spent considerable time roughly between:
- Support: 0.820–0.830
- Resistance: 0.870–0.885
Three features stand out.
First, rallies repeatedly failed around 0.875–0.885.
Second, upside thrust progressively shortened.
Third, the market eventually began hugging the lower portion of the range rather than repeatedly testing the highs.
That represents deterioration in the balance between demand and supply.
The eventual August break beneath 0.815–0.820 therefore mattered more than an isolated bearish candle: it resolved a multi-month struggle in sellers' favour.
3. August–October: the most important sequence
The decline into 0.765 was followed by a September rally toward 0.820.
This rebound was the critical test.
Had buyers been regaining control, I would want to see:
0.765 → strong recovery → reclaim 0.820 → hold above it → attack 0.840+.
Instead, the rally stopped almost exactly around the previous breakdown area near 0.820.
That is classic former support becoming resistance.
Price subsequently rolled over and generated successive lower rally peaks into October.
This is one of the strongest bearish observations on the chart because it demonstrates that buyers were given an opportunity to reverse the breakdown and failed to capitalize on it.
4. Current bars: S$0.750 is now the decision area
Today's bar:
O 0.765
H 0.770
L 0.745
C 0.750
The close is near the lower portion of the day's range.
Observation
Price attempted to trade higher toward 0.770, could not sustain the advance, fell through 0.765, touched 0.745, and closed at 0.750.
Interpretation
This is bearish because the market has not merely touched the old 0.765 support; it is accepting price beneath it.
But this is not yet a climactic breakdown bar.
Its range is relatively ordinary compared with the large historical displacement bars, and volume does not appear remotely comparable with the May or February extremes.
That distinction matters.
The present decline looks more like persistent erosion caused by insufficient demand than panic liquidation.
Weis' sequential approach explicitly warns against reducing volume to simple formulas: narrow or moderate-range declines on unimpressive volume can remain bearish when buyers simply withdraw.
In practical terms:
There is currently very little evidence of aggressive demand around S$0.75.
That is different from saying sellers are extraordinarily aggressive.
5. Critical levels
| Zone | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| 0.745–0.750 | Immediate support/current battleground |
| 0.720–0.725 | Major historical support and next important downside reference |
| 0.765–0.770 | First resistance; recently broken support |
| 0.785–0.800 | Intermediate supply / October structure |
| 0.815–0.820 | Major structural resistance |
| 0.840–0.850 | Former Jun–Aug range |
| 0.875–0.885 | Major medium-term supply |
The 0.720–0.725 zone deserves particular attention because it repeatedly mattered earlier in the year.
The chart shows lows around 0.720 in February/March and approximately 0.725 immediately before the explosive May markup.
Consequently, if 0.745 fails decisively, there is relatively little obvious structural support before roughly 0.720–0.725.
6. Three forward scenarios
🟢 Bullish reversal — currently lower probability
The most interesting bullish development would actually begin with another attempt below 0.745–0.750.
Suppose price briefly falls beneath support, but:
- cannot make meaningful downward progress,
- closes strongly off the low,
- volume shows substantial selling effort with little downside reward,
- and price quickly reclaims 0.765–0.770.
That could become a spring / failed breakdown.
A spring becomes meaningful because the market demonstrates that sellers were unable to exploit a penetration of support; confirmation comes from the subsequent recovery and test rather than from the penetration itself.
First confirmation: >0.770
Better confirmation: >0.785–0.800
Structural improvement: >0.820
Until those occur, calling a bottom at 0.75 is premature.
🔴 Bearish continuation — currently highest probability
The bearish scenario needs very little additional confirmation.
A decisive close below 0.745, followed by inability to regain 0.750–0.765, would confirm continued markdown.
The natural next structural objective becomes:
0.720–0.725
A particularly bearish sequence would be:
break 0.745 → weak rebound toward 0.755–0.765 → rejection → new low.
That would convert 0.765 from support into clearly established overhead supply.
Below 0.720, the much larger 0.665 April low returns to relevance, although it is too early to treat that as the primary objective.
⚪ Neutral / base-building scenario
Price could instead oscillate between approximately:
0.745–0.750 support
and
0.785–0.800 resistance.
That would change the immediate market from trend continuation into a trading range.
This would actually be constructive if subsequent sell-offs showed:
- narrowing ranges,
- progressively less downside progress,
- contracting volume,
- stronger closes,
- and repeated rejection of sub-0.750 prices.
Those would indicate selling pressure is being absorbed.
At present, however, that evidence has not appeared convincingly.
7. Highest-conviction read
Bearish: 7.5/10
The key point is not merely that Riverstone is trading at S$0.750.
It is that every meaningful rally since the May high has achieved less than the previous one, while previous support levels have progressively converted into resistance.
The sequence:
0.985 → 0.885 → 0.875 → 0.820
tells the story more clearly than any individual candlestick.
The September rally was the buyers' best recent opportunity to demonstrate a change of character. It failed around 0.820, and price subsequently returned beneath 0.765.
What would change my view?
The first warning to bears would be a failed breakdown beneath 0.745 followed by rapid recovery above 0.770.
A meaningful structural change would require approximately 0.800, while 0.820 is the critical line separating a simple countertrend rebound from a credible medium-term reversal.
Until then, the burden of proof remains firmly on the buyers.
