Wilmar - Extra Ordinary Result But Price Not Moving

Wilmar International FY2020 net profit surges 18.6% to US$1.53b

Its revenue for FY2020 increased 18.5% to US$50.53b.

Agribusiness group Wilmar International recorded an 18.6% increase in its FY2020 net profit to US$1.53b, on the back of a robust performance across all core segments, the company announced.

The group’s revenue also increased 18.5% to US$50.53b in FY2020 due to strong volume growth, firmer commodity prices, and consolidation of food manufacturer Goodman Fielder’s results.

Wilmar International is also set to hand out its highest total cash dividend since listing at 19.5 Singapore cents per share for FY2020 amidst the group’s recorded net profit for the full year.

Technically, if Wilmar continue to hover around 5.40 for the next few bars, it is likely to test the support at 4.90.   Either it rebounce back from 4.90 and break new high or it continues to falls to 2nd support of 4.20.  Lets watch how the smart monies going to play it.

Hang Seng Index - Stamp Duty Increase Sell Down

Hong Kong unveiled its first stamp-duty increase on stock trades since 1993, sparking a broad selloff in the US$7.6 trillion (S$10 trillion) market and sending shares of the city’s exchange to their biggest plunge in more than five years.

The planned trading-tax increase to 0.13 per cent from 0.10 per cent was part of a raft of new measures announced in Hong Kong’s budget that included increased spending to help residents weather the pandemic. Even as the city’s economy has plunged over the past year, stock prices and turnover have surged amid a global market boom.

Technically, HSI had risen too much and the stamp duty increase give the smart monies a nice reason to sell down their HK shares.  Personally, I view this as temporary sell off as it is like our GST hike, overtime, traders will start trading again as they forgot about the increases.

Sheng Siong - Good Result But Neither Up nor Down

SUPERMARKET operator Sheng Siong on Wednesday posted a net profit of S$32.1 million for the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, up 84.9 per cent from S$17.4 million a year ago.

Riding on elevated demand driven by the pandemic, revenue rose 28.8 per cent to S$319.3 million from S$247.9 million in Q4 2019. The increase was attributed to better performance at existing stores (18.2 percentage points) and new stores opened in 2020 (10.6 percentage points).

Sheng Siong announce good result but price neither rise or falls as it is not expected to perform that well again as per during the locked down.

Many stocks that rise during the COVID-19 locked down are under selling pressures as many are overvalued.

SIA - Flying High

SIA unexpectedly bullish today due to its resumption of daily non-stop services to its main US destinations reflects a strategic rather than commercial decision in line with an overall desire to steadily increase capacity at Changi Airport despite little or no improvement in demand.

SIA last month upgraded its non-stop New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco routes to daily, resulting in 21 weekly non-stop flights to the US.

The bulls are climatic today and it need to keep its buying momentum tomorrow in order to fight back the bears as it hit the upper resistance line which the bears see it as an opportunity to shorts.

SIA chart still look bullish since Nov 2020.  The massive vaccination globally could have keep the bullish momentum for SIA as it meant that countries are very likely open for travelling.  Stock market are always forward looking 6 months ahead of time.

Starhub - 19 Feb 2021

StarHub has posted earnings of $36.1 million for the 4QFY2020 ended December, 3.5% higher than earnings of $34.9 million in the corresponding period the year before.

The growth was mainly due to higher other income of $13.4 million from the $1.9 million in 4QFY2019, which came from payouts from the job support scheme (JSS) and higher income grant.

That said, the higher earnings met or exceeded expectations against a guidance that was last updated in August 2020.

FY2020 earnings stood 15.2% lower at $157.9 million, from $186.3 million a year ago.

For the 4QFY2020, the group has recommended a proposed final dividend of 2.5 cents per share, bringing the total dividend to 5 cents per share for the FY2020.

In comparison, StarHub paid out a total of 9 cents per share in FY2019.

The total dividend for the year represents a payout of 80%, in line with StarHub’s dividend policy.

Looks like the worst over for Starhub.
